Goal: zero burden on essential goods

Easing the Burden on Families

Your electricity bill went up. Your water bill went up. Gas prices were uncapped. The NDC taxed Grenadian families into poverty while doubling ministers' salaries. The NNP will put money back in your pocket.

Our plan focuses on structural reforms that lower the cost of utilities, reduce taxes on essential goods, and create a more competitive marketplace that works for consumers rather than against them.

Our Approach

Reducing Everyday Costs

The NNP believes that access to affordable electricity, clean water, and nutritious food are not luxuries but fundamental rights. Our policy platform addresses the root causes of high living costs through energy reform, agricultural investment, and fair trade practices.

We will pursue renewable energy expansion to reduce dependence on expensive imported fuel, negotiate fairer rates for water provision, and remove unnecessary taxes on basic food items that strain family budgets.

By investing in local food production and modernising supply chains, the NNP aims to make Grenada more self-sufficient and less vulnerable to global price shocks.

Key Policy Priorities

Lower Electricity Costs

Transition to renewable energy sources to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels and bring down electricity bills.

Affordable Water

Invest in water infrastructure and negotiate fair pricing to ensure every household has access to clean, affordable water.

Reduce Food Prices

Remove VAT on essential food items and support local agriculture to lower grocery costs for families.

Fair Fuel Pricing

Implement transparent fuel pricing mechanisms and explore alternative transportation energy sources.

Housing Support

Expand affordable housing programmes and provide relief for families struggling with rising rental costs.

Real Solutions

A Plan That Delivers Relief

Energy Reform

Grenada's electricity costs are among the highest in the Caribbean. The NNP will accelerate the transition to solar and wind energy, reducing bills by making the country less dependent on imported diesel. Our target is to achieve 50% renewable energy generation, passing the savings directly to consumers.

Food Security

By revitalising local agriculture and supporting farmers with modern equipment, training, and market access, the NNP will reduce the import bill on food and ensure Grenadians have access to affordable, locally grown produce year-round.

Water Infrastructure

Ageing water infrastructure leads to waste, shortages, and high costs. The NNP's plan includes upgrading the national water system, improving storage capacity, and ensuring equitable distribution across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.

Consumer Protection

The NNP will strengthen consumer protection laws to prevent price gouging, ensure fair competition in the marketplace, and establish mechanisms for citizens to report and challenge unfair pricing on essential goods and services.

Looking Forward

A Grenada Where Everyone Can Thrive

Under Emmalin Pierre's leadership, the NNP is committed to building a Grenada where no family has to choose between paying the light bill and putting food on the table. Affordable living is not just a campaign promise — it is the foundation of a just and equitable society.

The NNP's approach is practical, measurable, and rooted in the real experiences of Grenadian families. Every policy is designed with one question in mind: will this make life more affordable for the people who need it most?

"No Grenadian should have to struggle to afford the basics. We are committed to delivering real, lasting relief to families across our nation."

— Hon. Emmalin Pierre, NNP Political Leader
