A Proven Track Record
The NNP has always placed job creation and youth empowerment at the centre of its economic vision. During its time in government, the party implemented programmes and policies that expanded opportunities across agriculture, tourism, construction, ICT, and public service — with a particular focus on youth employment.
Through the Homegrown Structural Adjustment Programme (2014-2017), the NNP stabilised the economy and created the conditions for sustained growth, averaging approximately 4.5% GDP growth per year from 2014 to 2019 — generating new jobs and business opportunities across all parishes.
With Emmalin Pierre — herself a former teacher and youth media host — now leading the party, the NNP's commitment to young people is stronger than ever.
Flagship Programme
The IMANI Programme
Launched in 2013, the New IMANI Programme was the NNP's flagship youth employment initiative. Targeting Grenadians aged 18-35, it combined career orientation, skills training, job shadowing, and fieldwork over a two-year engagement period.
More than 6,000 young Grenadians participated in the programme, gaining practical experience and professional certifications that equipped them for careers in both the public and private sectors.
Programme Components
Career Orientation
Helping young people discover their strengths and align with career paths.
Skills Training & Certification
Practical training with recognised qualifications for self-development.
Job Shadowing
Real-world exposure to working environments across multiple sectors.
Community Development
Engaging participants in projects that strengthen their communities.
Key Initiatives
Programmes That Made a Difference
100 Million for 100 Thousand
The centrepiece of the NNP's youth agenda — a commitment to invest over half a billion dollars in youth empowerment initiatives, covering training, entrepreneurship, and community development across all parishes.
Youth in Agriculture
An initiative designed to engage young Grenadians in the agricultural sector, promoting agribusiness, sustainable farming, and value-added production as a viable career path.
Project Reach
A prison rehabilitation programme through the Ministry of Youth, focused on rehabilitating and reintegrating young offenders into society with skills and support.
Sector Diversification
Expanding employment beyond traditional sectors — growing tourism and hospitality, agriculture and agribusiness, construction and infrastructure, and ICT and business services.
Economic Growth
Growing Jobs Across Every Sector
The NNP's economic strategy focused on diversifying Grenada's economy to create employment beyond traditional sectors. Key areas of job growth included:
Tourism & Hospitality
Expanded hotel capacity, cruise arrivals, and eco-tourism offerings.
Agriculture & Agribusiness
Value-added production and the Youth in Agriculture initiative.
Construction & Infrastructure
Major road, bridge, airport, and seaport development projects.
ICT & Business Services
Growing the BPO sector and digital economy opportunities.
Education
Investing in Education
Under the NNP government, education received the largest budget allocation — over EC$110 million in the landmark 2014 budget alone. The party championed school infrastructure, teacher training, and technology in the classroom.
Emmalin Pierre herself served as Minister for Education, Human Resource Development, Religious Affairs and Information from 2018 to 2022, bringing her background as a teacher and youth advocate directly to the portfolio.
Education Priorities
School Infrastructure
Rebuilding and modernising schools across all parishes.
Teacher Development
Professional training and support for educators.
Technology in Classrooms
Equipping schools with digital learning tools.
Vocational Training
Alternative pathways for skills-based careers.
Looking Forward
A New Generation of Leadership
Under the leadership of Emmalin Pierre, the NNP continues to advocate for meaningful employment opportunities. Pierre has called for increased investment in job creation, support for small businesses, and economic safeguards that protect working families.
In January 2025, the NNP held its Youth Convention at Westerhall Secondary School, where Pierre urged young people to stand up for their constitutional rights and engage actively in shaping Grenada's future. A new National Youth Executive was elected, pledging to prioritise youth empowerment, innovation, and engagement.
The NNP believes that a people-centred economic approach — combining targeted skills development, private sector growth, and strategic public investment — is the path to sustainable employment for all Grenadians.
"Young people, do not allow yourself to be bullied, do not allow your constitutional right to be trampled upon. Stand up for your rights."
— Hon. Emmalin Pierre, NNP Youth Convention 2025
